Hey Or-Tal, on the subject of proverbs (one of my personal obsessions...), perhaps this would be of interest to you - Sacred Texts Archive recently added this great old book online - unlike other proverb books, this one does a great job of giving some cultural and historical context and comparisons for the proverbs. It's in English only, unfortunately - it would be so cool if it gave the Hebrew, too! Ancient Jewish Proverbs by Abraham Cohen [1911] This entry in the Wisdom of the East series is a treasury of traditional Jewish proverbs, mostly extracted from the Talmud and Mishna. http://www.sacred-texts.com/jud/ajp/index.htm
Hi Or-Tal, the reason I don't do translations in the Twitter is to try to get people used to the idea of just appreciating the Latin for its own sake. Most of them are quite famous sayings, though - so if you Google them, you will probably find an English translation quite easily! :-)
Or-Tal!!! What a nice surprise to see you here! I created this Ning because my Aesop's fables book will start shipping in February (I got my first copy last week, and I really like how it looks!!!)... I am REALLY hoping this Ning will be a place that teachers and students will come with questions and ideas and discussion about the book. Probably, I am being too optimistic, as usual... but wouldn't it be great if that could happen????
Your motto is one of my own favorites, too!!! :-)
